Jason Spezza scored his 23rd goal of the season to help the Senators defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 Saturday night in Ottawa.
Ottawa had lost their last three confrontations to their Ontario rivals this year.
In the second period, Spezza scored on a one timer to give a one goal lead to the Sens which they managed to hold until the end of the game. Erik Karlsson and Ales Hemsky had a point on the play with their 53rd and 30th assist of the year.
In a game where both goalies were tested, Craig Anderson ( 28 saves) had the best over his opponent James Reimer who made 36 saves out of the 37 shots he faced.
Even being eliminated from the playoffs, the Senators are having success lately.
Paul MacLean’s troops enjoyed their fourth win in a row (with last night).
Sens will play their 82nd and last game of the year in Pittsburgh to face the Penguins. Let’s hope they can at least end the season on a good note!
