Even after a great start for the Sens, they still ended up losing the game 3-1 against the Dallars Stars, Saturday afternoon.
The Texas team stopped their losing streak to four and handed the Senators their sixth in a row.
The Stars scored three unanswered goals to take the two points on the line.
Cody Eakin, Travor Daley and Jamie Benn scored the three goals for the locals who had allowed the first goal in the game.
Erik Karlsson was the only scorer for the Sens. His 19th of the season allowed him to tie a career high.
For a fifth straight game, Robin Lehner was the starting goalie for Paul MacLean. He stopped the first 17 shots he faced before allowing three goals on the next 27 shots.
The Senators are pretty much eliminated from the playoffs.
It would take a miracle for them to make the playoffs for a thirs year consecutive.
Ottawa will start a doubleheader in Florida Monday night.
After Tampa Bay Monday night, the Canadian team will be in Sunrise to play the Panthers Tuesday. Sens will be back in Ottawa to host the Chicago Blackhawks.
