The Ottawa Senators took advantage of Alex Ovechkin’s absence to stop their two game losing streak by shutting down the Capitals 2-0 Tuesday night in Washington.
This win was added to Craig Anderson’s stats, who stopped 34 shots he faced, to earn his third shutout of the year and the 25th of his career.
Anderson was in nets for the last 2 games allowing 9 goals in these 2 games.
We can say he bought back his two poor perfomances brilliantly.
Kyle Turris scored his 15th of the season. He opened the score in the second period, which became the game winning goal.
The captain Jason Spezza also contributed to this win by adding a goal in the thirs period on a power play. Erik Karlsson and Patrick Weircoch contributed on this play.
Frustration took over the Capitals which have now lost six in a row. Mikhail Grabovski was thrown out of the game when he tried to claw Zach Smith’s face. The incident happened in the third period.
Ottawa will continue their road trip Thursday night in Tampa as they will face the Lightning.
