Even with two goals, Chris Neil was not able to fire up his teamates, which suffered a tough loss 6-3 against the Maple Leafs in Toronto Saturday night.
Ottawa had the intention to continue their winning streak by also stopping their two game losing streak this season against their Ontario rival.
It all started well when Neil and Greening got on the scoreboard first to give the visitors a two goal lead.
The locals brought back their team and the fans back with three unanswered goals. Again, the Sens had to play catch-up hockey.
Meanwhile, a controversial goal from Joffrey Lupul turned the momentum around. On the play, the officials missed a dangerous body check from behind from Nazem Kadri on Cody Ceci behind Craig Anderson’s net. We will see of the NHL reviews the play in the next days.
Phil Kessel scored his 28th, 29th and 30th goals of the season and also helping on Tyler Bozak’s 11th goal which brought the score to 5-3.
Kadri completed the score with an empty netter.
Craig Anderson made 30 saves in the loss
