Ales Hemsky scored twice and the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2, Tuesday night.
Ottawa, who started their West coast road trip Sunday in Vancouver, lost for a second time to the Oilers this season.
It is a series sweep that Paul Maclean’s troop suffered to Dallas Eakin’s.
The home team can thank forward Ales Hemsky who scored twice to help his team earn the win.
The Czech athlete tied the game up with a goal in the first period which was his first since January 12th and his eight of the season.
In the center of numerous transactions as the exchange day is coming up, Hemsky added another one to give his team the lead for the first time in the second period.
Jordan Eberle, for his part, took care of the rest by scoring the game winning goal by doubling his teams lead in the thirs period.
Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson both beat Ben Scrivens (34 saves) in the loss.
Conacher and Corvo on waivers
Earlier today, the Sens added forward Cory Conacher and defenseman Joe Corvo to this list.
On his side, Conacher was still in line up last night.
Corvo had made a return to the nation’s capital’s team after signing a one year contract as a free agent last summer.
Number 77 has had a difficult season so far in Ottawa playing only in 25 games so far this season.
The Sens will be in Calgary Wednesday night to face the Flames.
With only 20 games to go, Senators will have to make a big team effort to clinch a playoff spot. They can’t afford to lose games to teams below them in the standings. This will show us if the Sens have character, let’s wait and see…
