Erik Karlsson scored the only goal in shootouts to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils Thursday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Karlsson ended the shootouts on the fourth wave. Danius Zubrus was unable to respond for the Devils.
Mike Hoffman was first on the scoreboard in the second period. He bought back his teammates, Ales Hemsky, unsuccesful attempt at a penalty shot on Cory Schneider.
The ex-Senator, Anton Volchenkov, added an assist to Micheal Ryder’s 18th goal shortly after.
Robin Lehner was great in front of his net.
He made 38 saves to earn his 11th win of the season.
Lehner was a key player for the Sens. He made brilliant saves in overtime and also stopping Jaromir Jagr on a breakaway which could of ended the game.
The Sens are back in action Saturday night to play their Ontario rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs. This will also be the last home game of the season for the Sens. Let’s hope it will be an exciting one!
