Milan Michalek had a two goal night and the Ottawa Senators won 3-2 against the Buffalo Sabres Thursday night.
With only 22 seconds left to play in the game, the Czech scored the winning goal.
This last finished off a nice play started by captain Jason Spezza ( two assists) by shooting in the top left corner leaving no chance to goalie Jonas Enroth.
Michalek also doubled the lead of the locals at the beginning of the third period. Erik Karlsson was the first on the scoreboard for the Sens in the second period.
The Sabres responded with two unanswered goals in the third period to tie the game up. Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford erased the two goal deficit.
Craig Anderson was back in front of his net. The American goalie made 30 saves.
On his side, Enroth made 33 saves.
The Senators have now won their last two games. They started this sequence Tuesday night while on their last game of their road trip in St-Louis against the Blues.
With this win and the Detroit Red Wings also, Ottawa is only 1 point back behind these last and the eight place in the East.
Ottawa will play their last game before the Olympic break Saturday afternoon. They will visit the Bruins in Boston. This will be their fourth and last confrontation between the Atlantic division rivals this season.
Mark Stone back in Binghamton
The forward Mark Stone was sent back to Binghamton Senators in the Amerincan hockey league Thursday.
Stone missed the last eight games of his team due to an injury.
Called back December 31st, Stone had a goal and an assist in seven games in Ottawa.
He scored his first NHL goal January 4th against the Montreal Canadiens in a 4-3 overtime win.
In 19 games in Binghamton, Stone has 18 points and is 11th for points on his team.
