The Senators lost 3-2 in shootouts to the Florida Panthers Tuesday night.
Kyle Turris scored first in shootouts for the Sens while Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek each missed on the following rounds.
Robin Lehner was unable to stop Vincent Trohcek and Brandon Pirri, who were the only shooters for the Panthers.
Both goalies played an excellent game in nets for their teams.
On his side, Lehner made 39 saves, which was not enough to get his team a second consecutive win. Ottawa has now lost 9 of their last 10 games.
Roberto Luongo and his 37 saves was enough to get the win.
Both teams were unable to score in the first period. We had to wait for Mark Stone’s second NHL goal at 11:34 in the second period to get things going.
Clarke MacArthur doubled the lead of his team with a power play goal.
The Panthers didn’t let the Sens walk over them easily.
Sean Bergenheim and Trohcek scored within 23 seconds of each other late in the second period to tie the game up.
The Sens will be back in Ottawa Friday night. After a three game road trip, Sens will have a big challenge by playing the defending Stanley Cup champions, the powerful Chicago Blackhawks. Sens will play their next 4 games at home.
If the Sens want to give themselves a chance to make the playoffs, these four game will be crucial
