The Senators lost their fifth game in a row, Thursday night, losing 5-4 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The nations capital’s fans were right there to see probably of the nicest goals of this season…
Trailing 3-2, Ales Hemsky brought both teams back to the starting grid when he showed the extent of his talent with a breathtaking goal.
The ex Edmonton Oilers received a pass from Milan Michalek in neutral zone, before deking Radko Rudas and Ben Bishop and making them both look bad.
Unfortunately, this did not motivate his teammates as they keep adding on the losses.
Clarke MacArthur also reached a career high with his 21st goal of the season.
Erik Karlsson and Michalek scored the other two goals for the Sens.
Two goals for Teddy Purcell… in the first period
First period was Teddy Purcell’s. The forward for the visting team scored his 11th and 12th of the season in the first period.
He opened up the score early on in the game with only 26 seconds played from a turnover in Sens zone.
Purcell gave the lead back to Tampa Bay with a power play goal.
Valterri Filpula, Eric Brewer and Ryan Callahan also added their name to the goals column.
Tough times for Robin Lehner
The Senators are out of solutions… even Robin Lehner.
The Swedish goalie has now allowed 18 goals to his last four games.
This bad streak has now brought his goals allowed average to 3,31 and his save percentage to 0,904.
Lehner has a record of 7-14-5 this season.
The Sens will play their next game Saturday night in Dallas to play the Stars.
